About the Outer Islands and International Affairs Desk (OIIAD)
The Mauritius Institute of Education (MIE) has been providing its services to the Education Sector beyond its ‘local’ boundaries, namely to Rodrigues Island and other islands and countries in the region in relation to its three mandates (teacher education, educational research and curriculum development) for more than two decades. The Outer Islands and International Affairs Desk (OIIAD) was established in 2024 to streamline processes and consolidate the institute’s outer islands and international portfolio, bringing together relevant MIE initiatives under one roof.
The mission of the OIIAD is to consolidate MIE’s external relations portfolio, facilitating educational growth, research collaborations, and international partnerships. The OIIAD works closely with key stakeholders, both within and outside of Mauritius, to ensure that educational programmes of the institute meet global standards and benefit communities across borders.
