Head Of Department MESSAGE 

In an age of uncertainty and constant change, adaptability, flexibility and proactiveness are the key qualities required by academics to meet institutional, personal and professional targets. Members based in the Education Studies Department (ESD) espouse these qualities and strive to meet institutional and departmental objectives by adopting goal setting strategies and through teamwork.

In line with institutional targets, members based in ESD service courses in the fundamentals of Education which includes Pedagogy, Psychology, Sociology and philosophy. But more importantly, we are increasingly involved in research that cover areas such as Gender, Teacher Effectiveness, Open Educational Practices (OEPs), Primary Education, Teaching Practice among others. We are also involved in innovative projects (locally, regionally and internationally) and seek to adopt a field oriented approach through research in view of influencing teacher education at MIE and in the Republic of Mauritius.

The department looks forward to materialising the mission and vision of MIE through research, partnership, interaction and communities of practice.
