World Art Day, established by the International Association of Art (IAA) and supported by UNESCO, highlights the essential role of creativity in sustainable development, mental well-being, therapeutic experience and emotional healing, cultural preservation and the promotion od unity. While technology offers new tools, World Art Day 2026 celebrates the irreplaceable essence of human experience the unique perspectives that an algorithm cannot replicate.
The visual arts department participated in the WORLD ART DAY celebration at the Polytechnics, Pamplemousses Campus, on Friday 17 April 2026 from 9.00 to 15.00 hours. The event was organised by the association Action for Artistic Creativity ACA/AAC supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Arts and Culture. The Mauritius Institute of Education was well represented, as 3 lecturers from the visual arts department accompanied 15 students to participate in this event. 11 TDP HEP students, 2 BEd FT 2023-2026 and 3 PGCE PT intake 2026 students participated in the live painting.
