WELCOME TO THE MathsWeCan PROJECT!
The MathsWeCan Project is currently being developed at the Mauritius Institute of Education and consists of an online support tool to address the common mathematical misconceptions and errors of students, at the Lower Secondary Grades. The project is in line with the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) where ICT is also endowing the enhancement of mathematical experience in the 21st century.
Rich set of formative quizzes, supported by local and international research, have been designed and displayed in an Interactive Audio Visual form to propel an engaging teaching – learning environment among students and teachers. Mounted on the Scratch 3.0 platform, the project may also be used as an assessment tool for topical revisions as well as a tool to reinforce Students Mathematics syllabi knowledge.
The project also aims at supporting mathematics educators in their pedagogical journey in view to tackle misconceptions and errors with students. Short, concise and exemplary research based literatures on common student’s misconceptions and errors have been compiled. In addition, particular teaching strategies and models have also been suggested for the abatement of the misconceptions and errors.
