Certificate in Special Education is a 2-year part-time programme (40 credits) for practicing educators working in Special Educational Needs schools. The programme aims at equipping educators with an understanding of Special Education including the evolution in terms of educational policies and legislations at national and international level. The course also aims at developing competencies and skills of educators in several areas, namely curriculum development, instructional planning and management, identification of learners’ needs, assessment and evaluation, psycho-pedagogy, social and life skills, and the rehabilitation of learners with disabilities. The programme comprises of 10 taught modules with a total of 24 credits and a practicum component of 16 credits which equips educators to apply the theoretical knowledge in their school practice under the guidance and supervision of tutors.
