· Mr Jay Ramsaha

Jay Ramsaha is a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Social Studies Department at the Mauritius Institute of Education (MIE), where he also serves as the Coordinator for Values, Citizenship, and Human Rights Education. With nearly two decades of experience in the formal education sector, Mr. Ramsaha has engaged with diverse learner profiles and collaborated with various stakeholders, locally and internationally. Since joining MIE in 2009, Mr. Ramsaha has actively participated in curriculum development, research, and teacher education. He has led and participated in numerous projects focussing on Intercultural Education, Peace Education, and Ethics Education at local, regional, and international levels. Notably, he is a fellow in the ongoing International Ethics Education Fellowship – Contributing to Global Citizenship and Building Inclusive and Peaceful Societies Project, funded by UNESCO and other global partners. Mr. Ramsaha’s research interests include Life Skills Education, Adult Learning, and Transformative Pedagogy, reflecting his commitment to advancing educational practices and fostering inclusive learning environments.

 

· Dr Seema Goburdhun

Dr.Seema Goburdhun is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Studies at the Mauritius Institute of Education. She teaches History of Mauritius to pre-service and in-service teachers and has been involved in the production of innovative pedagogical resources to promote the learning of History in schools. She also develops curriculum materials for both primary and secondary school learners. She is engaged in the Ethics Education Project for ‘Transforming Education to Contribute to Global Citizenship and Peaceful and Inclusive Societies’. Her research interests include teaching and learning of History, Heritage Education, Ethics Education, Teacher education and Curriculum development.

 

 

· Dr Rajendra Korlapu-Bungaree

Dr Rajendra Korlapu-Bungaree is a Senior Lecturer in the English Department at the Mauritius Institute of Education (MIE). His academic interests include language and literature teaching methodologies, media in education, values and citizenship education, and human rights education. He has been involved in projects pertaining to

the implementation of communicative language teaching strategies at both primary and secondary level, and communities of practice in academic settings. His research interests are centred around English language and literature pedagogies, literature didactics, academic well-being, teacher agency, and teacher decision making.

 

· Mrs Prema Ramsaha

Mrs. Prema Ramsaha, a Senior Lecturer and Officer in Charge of the SEN Department at the Mauritius Institute of Education (MIE) since 2011, is deeply involved in teacher education, particularly in special and inclusive education. She has significantly contributed to curriculum development, including Life Skills Education textbooks, a Socio-Emotional Learning Toolkit, and Sexuality Education materials for secondary schools. Her research interests encompass childhood education, special education, socio-emotional learning, and transformative pedagogy. Additionally, Mrs. Ramsaha is a national expert for the APPRENDRE Project of Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie, focusing on Inclusive Education and Classroom and Behaviour Management.

 

· Dr Vishnee Bissonauth

Dr Vishnee Bissonauth holds a PhD in Nutrition from the University of Montreal, an MSc in Nutrition from Laval University, and a BSc in Food Science. Her experience includes tutoring and lecturing at the university level, along with research experience at CHU-Sainte-Justine Hospital and the Montreal Fertility Centre, focusing on nutrition, Crohn’s disease,
